Today we left Rome to Orvieto
We got breakfast and went to Roma Termini with about 40 minutes before departure… plenty of time right?
No…
I was however able to get a cornetto al pistacchio and cotoletta sandwhich.
We then walked towards the board again to check which platform the train departed from and it was 2 est.
2 est is not platform 2!
We walked down platform 2 about 60m before a kind Italian worker stopped me and asked to see my ticket before saying “no. down there” and pointed to plafrom 1…
So… there may have been a sign pointing down platform 1 and people may have ony been walking the opposite direction than us… but we’re just two turiste… turiste!
Anyways after some running we got to the train which promptly left the station as soon as we sat down..
But we made it!
I slept the entire ride so I’m not sure what happened but, we passes a bunch of stuff…?

Unfortunately the funicular was closed for maintenance so we had to take a boring bus to the upper part of town.
When we got dropped of we saw the Albornoz Fortress and decided to detour before walking to the hotel.

It doesn’t look to steep but it was and e had to walk uphill for 1km pulling our suitcases behind.
My poor arms were Jello.

After checking into Hotel Posta, we went to find the Duomo di Orvieto (Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta), which is so tall it barley fit in my camera frame.
While we were there the Maple Groove Orchastra from Michigan was setting up a free concerto so we stayed to listen for a while, taking breaks in and out of the sun.

After the Concerto, Gabi went to tour the underground network, while I walked arond and explored the shops.
After we regrouped back at the hotel waiting until the restaurants would open.
I of course fell asleep again, waiting.
We went for dinner at Pizzeria Antica Arte Napoletana and I got a portcini pizza which has mashed potatos on it so that was interesting. Aparently potatoes on pizza is a lesser known italian tradition?

After dinner we went for a walk and I saw a moped a took a photo.

On the walk a nice Italian man let us pet is fluffy dog, but all the street cat rejected my friendship request.
There were 5 cats and they all left me…
I am sad.
