Today we flew in and arrived on time. Gabi thought WestJet lost her bag… they didn’t, it was just very slow.
We took a bus to get to Roma Termeni and walked to the Yellow Square Hostel. I almost got sick… italy streets are bumpy! I have made the executive decision not to ride buses for the rest of the trip.
We checked into the hostel. Everything was nice and we’re only sharing it with two other girls. And they’re from Canada too!
We left the hostel with a little over an hour to get to the Vatican. We walked the 4 blocks to Roma Tremini and after walking two laps, we asked for directions to buy metro tickets that took us upstairs. We got lost again so we asked for directions and they pointed us downtairs. We repeated this two other times until finally we found a store that would sell us Metro tickets. once the tickets were secured we rushed to the metro platform and it was gated off. We walked to another where someone told us the metro was closed!
by now it was 4:40 and our booking for the Vatican was at 5:30, so we rushed out of the station and Gabi tried to book and Uber, but it kept loading… and loading… and loading. While this as going on I kept trying to flag down a taxi but the would just wag a finger say “no no no”.
at about 4:55 we got a taxi for 15 Euro! and we were on our way. However… we only asked for the Vatican so even though we arrived at 5:12 we were dropped off at the Piazza del Popolo.
After asking for directions twice and alsmost going the wrong way once, we finally made it to tthe Vatican exactly at 5:30. I think gabi lost a year off her life throughout the entire ordeal.

After spending almost 2 hours at the Vatican I was hooooot! so we got Gelato, took a taxi back to the Hostel and then went out for dinner shortly after.
We went to Trattoria Cecio, I ordered paccheri funghi and Gabi got Tonnarelli Puttanesca. It was absolutely amazing.

After dinner we walked back to the hostel, showered and now its almost bed time.
